STUNT DRIVER ALMOST DOUBLES SPEED LIMIT

(LEEDS, ON.) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Enforcement Team (HET) are investigating a stunt driving incident on Highway 401.

On the 14th of February 2017 at about 5:20 P.M. Ontario Provincial Police officers, in Front of Yonge Township stopped a speeding Mazda car travelling westbound on Highway 401 near Mallorytown. Speeds determined were 94 kilometres over the speed limit. As a result of the investigation, the driver was also investigated for a Criminal Code offence.

19 year old Michael Lucas ATONI of Oakville Ontario was charged with Dangerous Driving, Contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice-Provincial Division, Brockville on the 17th of March 2017. He is also scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court – Brockville on the 22nd of March 2017 to answer to the charge of Stunt Driving.

His vehicle was subject to a 7 day vehicle impoundment and his driver’s licence subject to a 7 day suspension.
