On January 29, 2019 at approximately 10 p.m., the Grenville County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a motor vehicle collision that had occurred on private property. A pick-up truck, travelling on County Road 21, in Augusta Township, had exited the highway, striking a unoccupied vehicle that was parked at a residence and then proceeded into an adjacent field, before becoming stuck in the snow.
The involved driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and, as a result, 58-year-old David Ratcliffe of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Township was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
• Operation while impaired
• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. He was released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on February 22, 2019.
