Enjoy today’s sunshine while you can, because a serious snowstorm bringing at least a foot of snow is on the way.
The entire Ottawa-Gatineau region is currently under a winter storm watch, although Environment Canada says that snow won’t start falling until tomorrow.
The snow starts around noon on Tuesday and as much as 30 to 40 centimetres could fall over about 24 hours before it ends Wednesday afternoon, the weather agency says.
Winds are expected to blast some of that snow sideways, with gusts up to 60 km/h.
Slightly less snow is expected to fall in areas closer to Kingston, but they could experience stronger wind gusts.
