Off-duty Ottawa police officer charged with impaired driving


An Ottawa Police Service constable has been charged with impaired driving in Whitby, Ont.


Const. Tim Cowley, 46, was off-duty when he was charged Sunday by Durham Regional Police Service with operating a vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 per cent, Ottawa police said in a media release.

Cowley was released on a promise to appear in court, police said.

The Ottawa Police Service’s professional standards section has also launched an investigation.

Cowley has been assigned to administrative duties, Ottawa police said.
