Gananoque Police Service Update - March 20th, 2017
Wood Splitter Thief Nabbed
The owner of a local business reported to the Gananoque Police Service that during the early hours of March 13 a male party attended the business and stole a wood splitter valued at $1,600.00.
An officer of the Gananoque Police Service was able to identify a person of interest and with the assistance of the Kingston Police Force made arrangements to meet a male party to confirm if the property that was being advertised for sale on a media site, was the missing wood splitter from the Gananoque business.
Officers were able to confirm the wood splitter being sold was the one stolen from Gananoque and as a result a 32 year old male from the Joyceville area was arrested in Kingston and charged with theft under $5000, Possession of property obtained by crime and 2 counts of mischief to property under $5000.
The male was released on a promise to appear and an undertaking before an officer in charge and released to appear in court at a later date.
Fight Results In Impaired Driving Charge
Officers of the Gananoque Police Service received a call of a fight in progress at a Gananoque residence.
While enroute to the scene officers were advised an unwanted male party had left the residence in a motor vehicle.
An officer observed the male operating a motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested for assault and during interaction with the male, the officer formed the opinion that the 30 year old drivers ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol or drug.
The accused from Perth was arrested for operate a motor vehicle while ability impaired by alcohol or drug. He was transported to the Gananoque Police Service where 2 samples of his breath were obtained. As a result the accused was further charged with over 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mgs of blood.
The accused was also charged with drive while under suspension and novice driver with over ‘’0’’ blood alcohol concentration. The accused was released on a promise to appear and an undertaking before an officer in charge with a later court date.
The motor vehicle was seized and impounded for 7 days and the accused was issued a 90 days suspension of his driver’s licence.
